On what were the very first laws written?

The very first laws refer to ancient Babylon, and they are called “Laws of Hammurabi”. These laws are the first documented legal document, and they were discovered in the early 20th century during a French archaeological expedition. These laws were carved into a cone-shaped diorite stele.
