On which island was the volcanic eruption that led to the death of the Cretan civilization?

The death of the Cretan civilization took place at the end of the 17th century BC. During this period, a volcanic eruption occurred on the island of Santorini, or Tera. The island is located about 100 km from Crete.

Actually, it was not the eruption of Santorini itself that led to the death of the Minoan civilization, but its consequences – a series of tsunamis and the release of volcanic ash. This led to a decline in agriculture and famine in Crete.
