One side of the parallelogram is 7 cm smaller than the other, and its perimeter is 54 cm. Find the sides of the parallelogram.

| In order to find the sides of a parallelogram, we will compose and solve an equation. To do this, apply the formula to find the perimeter of a parallelogram.
The condition says that one side of the parallelogram is 7 cm less than the other. And we also know that its perimeter is 54 cm.
Let’s denote by the variable x cm the length of one of the sides of the parallelogram, then (x – 7) cm.
P = 2 (a + b);
We get the equation:
2 (x + (x – 7)) = 54;
x + x – 7 = 54: 2;
2x – 7 = 27;
2x = 27 + 7;
2x = 34;
x = 17 cm length of one side and 17 – 7 = 10 cm length of the second side.
