| First of all, we determine the lengths of the sides of the rectangle by making an equation for the formula to determine its area:
S = a * b.
According to the terms of the assignment, S = 10 m², one side is 2/5 of the other:
x * 2 / 5x = 10. On the left side of the equation, we perform actions with the variable:
2 / 5x² = 10. The second factor is the quotient of the first:
x² = 10: 2/5. When dividing fractions, flip the divisor and perform multiplication:
x² = 25.
Therefore: x = √25 = 5m – one side, and 2m – the other.
Let’s calculate the perimeter, according to the formula:
P = 2a + 2b = 2 * 5 + 2 * 2 = 10 + 4 = 14 m.
