We take the side of the rectangle as x, then
x + 2 – diagonal,
By the Pythagorean theorem we get:
x ^ 2 + 8 ^ 2 = (x + 2) ^ 2
x ^ 2 + 64 = x ^ 2 + 2 * x + 4
2 * x = 60
x = 30
The perimeter will be equal to:
2 * (30 + 8) = 2 * 38 = 76.
