The area of a rectangle is equal to the product of its sides, therefore, if the area is 480, and one of the sides is 30, then the second side is:
480: 30 = 16.
The diagonal of a rectangle is the hypotenuse of a right-angled triangle, the legs of which are equal to the sides of the rectangle. Using the Pythagorean theorem, we find that
d² = 30² + 16²,
d² = 900 + 256,
d² = 1156.
d = √1156 = 34.
