| 1) Let’s find out how many cm the second side of the rectangle is shorter than its first side, if we know that it is 10%.
40 – 100%;
X – 10%;
X = 40 * 10/100;
X = 4 cm.
2) Find the length of the second side of the rectangle if we found out that it is 4 cm shorter than the first.
40 – 4 = 36 cm.
3) Find the perimeter of the rectangle.
36 * 2 + 40 * 2 = 152 cm.
4) Find the area of this rectangle.
40 * 36 = 1440 cm².
Answer: the perimeter of the rectangle given to us was 152 cm, and its area is 1440 cm².
