| Let one of the sides of the rectangle be equal to X cm, AB = X cm, then the length of the other side is equal to (X + 5) cm, BC = (X + 5) cm.
Since AВСD is a rectangle, its perimeter is equal to: Ravsd = 2 * (AB + BC).
22 = 2 * (X + X + 5).
4 * X = 12 cm.
X = AB = СD = 12/4 = 3 cm.
BC = AD = 3 + 5 = 8 cm.
Then the area of the rectangle is: S = AB * BC = 3 * 8 = 24 cm2.
Answer: The area of the rectangle is 24 cm2.
