| 1) Determine the length of the first side of the rectangle if we know that its second side is 3 times larger than the first side, and the sum of all the lengths of the sides is 64 cm.We form an equation where:
X is the first side;
3X – second side;
64 – perimeter.
(X + 3X) * 2 = 64;
2X + 6X = 64;
8X = 64;
X = 64/8;
X 8 cm.
2) we will determine the length of the second side of the rectangle if we know that the first side is 3 times smaller and made a length of 8 cm.
8 * 3 = 24 cm.
Answer: the sides of the rectangle were 8 cm and 24 cm long.
