| Let’s designate the length of one side of the rectangle – x centimeters, then the length of the second side of the rectangle is – 2x centimeters. Let’s make an equation and find both sides of the rectangle:
2 (x + 2x) = 54.
x + 2x = 54: 2.
3x = 27.
x = 27: 3.
x = 9.
One side of the rectangle is 9 centimeters long, then the second side of the rectangle is twice as large and equal to:
9 * 2 = 18 centimeters.
Find the area:
18 * 9 = 162 cm².
The area of the rectangle is 162 cm².
Answer: the area of the rectangle is 162 cm².
