| One side of the triangle is 2 times larger than the other and 3.2 cm less than the third. Find the sides of a triangle if its perimeter is 9.8 cm.
Let x cm be one of the sides of the triangle, then:
(x / 2) cm – the second side of the triangle, which is 2 times smaller than the first;
(x + 3.2) cm – the third side of the triangle, which is 3.2 cm larger than the first.
Let’s compose and solve the equation, knowing that the perimeter of the triangle is 9.8 cm.
x + x / 2 + x + 3.2 = 9.8;
2x + x + 2x + 6.4 = 19.6;
5x = 19.6 – 6.4;
5x = 13.2;
x = 13.2 / 5;
x = 2.64 cm – first side.
x / 2 = 2.64 / 2 = 1.32 cm – second side.
x + 3.2 = 2.64 + 3.2 = 5.84 cm – third side.
