One side of the triangle is 6 cm, the other is 2 cm longer. Find the length of the third side

One side of the triangle is 6 cm, the other is 2 cm longer. Find the length of the third side of the triangle if its perimeter is 24.

1) Let’s find out how long the second side of the triangle has if we know that its first side is 2 cm shorter, and the length of the first side of the triangle is 6 cm.

6 + 2 = 8 cm.

2) We find out the sum of the lengths of the first two sides of the triangle, if we found out that the length of the second side was 8 cm, and the length of the first 6 cm.

8 + 6 = 14 cm.

3) Determine the length of the third side, if we know that the perimeter of the triangle is 24 cm, and we found out the sum of the lengths of the two sides and it was 14 cm.

24 – 14 = 10 cm.

Answer: the third side is 10 cm.
