Opposing sides of the War of Independence of the British colonies in North America.

In the War of Independence, on the one hand, there were the American colonies and France, and on the other, the British Empire. Of course, France wanted to weaken the position of England in North America, and therefore, supported the colonies. England, on the other hand, sought to maintain its control over these territories. The American colonies sought to gain freedom and independence. Ultimately, French military support and domestic patriotism allowed the Americans to gain the upper hand. So England lost its control over the colonies, and they gained independence.
