Pain occurs and swelling is limited to the site of inflammation (processes occurring in the affected tissues)

Inflammation can occur for a variety of reasons. Tissues can be damaged by high temperatures from burns or from low temperatures from frostbite. Inflammation can cause chemical or electrical burns. The symptoms are then the same as for a thermal burn. Also, mechanical injury can cause inflammation. A tumor is the body’s defense response to reduce harm from injury. Redness occurs due to rush of blood into damaged tissue or due to damage to the capillary during inflammation.
