Physiological adaptation of mammals.

There are many species of mammals that have developed different adaptations to the different environments in which they live. Mammals in cold climates such as the Arctic have many insulating layers or a thick layer of fat or fur to keep themselves out of the cold environment. This helps maintain a constant body temperature. Other mammals living in deserts or other warm climates develop adaptations in the kidneys and sweat glands. Physiological adaptation includes a part of the animal’s body, such as the size or shape of the teeth, the covering of the animal’s body, or the way the animal moves.
