Tissue fluid is formed from: 1. Blood capillaries; 2. Metabolism in tissues.

Factors affecting the formation of tissue fluid: a. Capillary permeability; b. Diffusion; c. Filtration and reabsorption; d. Metabolic activity of tissues.

Filtration and reabsorption are the most important mechanisms for the formation of tissue fluid. The fluid is filtered at the arterial end of the capillary and absorbed at the venous end.

Drainage of tissue fluid: 85% reabsorbed; 15% is drained through the lymph.
