| a) The graph of the function y = 2x-3 is a straight line, for the construction of which two points are enough. For example, let’s define the coordinates of two arbitrary points: at x = 0 y = -3, at x = 3 y = 3. The graph will look like.
b) To find out if the graph crosses a point, you need to substitute its coordinates into the equation of a straight line and check whether it will be correct:
-73 ≠ 2 * (-38) – 3
-73 ≠ -79
Since we did not get the correct equality, it means that the graph does not pass through the given point.
Answer: the graph of the function y = 2x-3 does not pass through point A (-38; -73).
