Point B lies between points A and C and point A is between points D and B find the length of the segment CD if AD = 45 cm AB is 3 cm more than AD and BC is 17 cm larger than AB.
Given: Point B lies between points A and C;
point A – between points D and B;
AD = 45 cm;
AB = AD + 3 cm;
BC = AB + 17 cm.
Find: СD.
Solution:
AB = AD + 3 cm = 45 + 3 = 48 cm;
BC = AB + 17 cm = 48 + 17 = 65 cm;
CD = AD + AB + BC = 45 + 48 + 65 = 158 cm.
Answer: СD = 158 cm.
