Point C is marked on the segment AB 20 cm long. Find the lengths of the segments AC and BC if the segments AC are 4 cm longer than the segment BC.

Let BC – x, then AC = x + 4,
Let’s make the equation:
BC + AC = AB = 20
x + (x + 4) = 20
x + x + 4 = 20
2x = 20-4
2x = 16
x = 8 – BC
x + 4 = 8 + 4 = 12 – AC
Answer: 12 and 8
