AB = AC + BC = 4 + 5 = 9 cm.

2. Let point M be the midpoint of the segment AC.

3. What is the length of the segment AM?

4: 2 = 2 cm.

4. What is the distance between point B and the midpoint of the segment AC?

BM = CM + BC = 2 + 5 = 7 cm.

Answer: the distance between points A and B is 9 cm, the distance between point B and the middle of the segment AC is 7 cm.
