Point N divides segment MK into two segments. Find the distance between the earrings of the segments MN AND NK, if MN = 7cm, NK = 12cm.

1) Let the midpoint of the segment MN be the point O, find the length of the segment ON:

7cm / 2 = 3.5cm.

2) Let the midpoint of the segment NK be a point C, find the length of the segment NC:

12cm / 2 = 6cm.

3) Find the distance between the midpoints of the segments MN and NK. To do this, add the lengths of the ON and NC segments:

3.5cm + 6cm = 9.5cm.

Answer: the distance between the midpoints of the segments MN and NK = 9.5 cm.
