Point N is marked on segment CD. Find the length of the segment CD, if the segment CN is 45 cm

Point N is marked on segment CD. Find the length of the segment CD, if the segment CN is 45 cm, the segment ND is shorter than the segment CN by n cm. Simplify the resulting expression and find its value at n = 54 cm and at n = 36.

Since ND is n cm shorter than the CN segment, its length will be equal to:

45 – n.

Then the length of the segment CD is determined by the expression:

45 + (45 – n) = 90 – n.

For n = 54 we get:

CD = 90 – 54 = 36 cm.

For n = 36 cm:

CD = 90 -36 = 54 cm.

Answer: CD is 36 and 54 cm.
