Points A, B, C are marked on the straight line. AB = 24 cm, BC = 18 cm. Find the distance from point A to the middle of the segment BC.

The midpoint of a line segment is the point that bisects the line segment. Therefore, we divide the segment BC in half to find the distance to its middle:

18: 2 = 9 (cm).

Now add the segment AB with half the length of the segment BC:

24 + 9 = 33 (cm).

Answer: the distance from point A to the middle of BC is 33 cm.
