Points A, B, C, D and E are on the straight line (in that order). One of them is painted yellow, and the other green, with a yellow dot to the left of the green one. The distance between A and C is 7 cm, between yellow and B is 8 cm, between green and D is 9 cm. Find the distance between the yellow and green dots.
1) Since the distance between points A and C is given, none of them is filled.
2) Since the distance from point B to the yellow point is given, point B is not filled.
3) Points D and E remain.
4) Since yellow is located to the left, point D is yellow, and point E is green.
5) Since the distance from point D to green is given, this is the distance from green to yellow point – 9cm.
