Pros and cons of Spartan parenting.

Pros:
1. Young men became more enduring, bolder and stronger.
2. The pupils of the Spartan school made excellent warriors.
Minuses:
1. High mortality rate among Spartan pupils.
2. Young men studied only military craft and did not receive a comprehensive education.
3. In young Spartans, they are brought up to be tough, and theft is encouraged.
4. Pupils of the Spartan school participated in crypt-beatings and murders of helots (dependent population).
