CaC2 + 2H2O = Ca (OH) 2 + C2H2.
2. Hydrogenation of acetylene in the presence of a nickel catalyst.
C2H2 + H2 => CH2 = CH2.
3. Combustion of ethylene with the release of carbon dioxide and water.
CH2 = CH2 + 3O2 = 2CO2 + 2H2O.
