Respiration of cephalopods.

Cephalopods are divided into two subclasses: two-gill (squid, cuttlefish, octopus) and four-gill (the ship and ammonites are extinct). Breathing is carried out by ctenidia or primary gills, which are paired cirrus gills, consisting of an axial plate with numerous petals located on it, covered with ciliated epithelium. They are located in the mantle cavity symmetrically on the sides.
