Respiratory organ in plants.

Plants do not have lungs like animals and cannot breathe through their skin like amphibians. In plants, leaves serve as respiratory organs. Due to a complex process – photosynthesis, the plant absorbs water and carbon dioxide gas, inside, under the influence of sunlight, a reaction occurs and these substances are converted into useful organic components and oxygen: СО2 + Н2О = О2 + (СН2О). In fact, the plant inhales carbon dioxide through the leaves and exhales oxygen, so the leaves act as a respiratory organ.
