The final stage of the Dutch revolution for many years was the conclusion of the Peace of Münster between Spain and the Netherlands on January 30, 1648. This event is considered one of the most significant in the history of the Netherlands, because the signing of the armistice gave independence to the United Provinces from the Holy Roman Empire. The Treaty of Munster is part of the Treaty of Westphalia, which ended the Thirty Years’ War and Revolution in the Netherlands.
