Similarities and differences of the continental and oceanic crust.

The earth’s crust is ambiguous in its structure on the continents and under the ocean. The main difference is that beneath the oceans, the crust consists of a basalt layer, on top of which is a thick layer of sedimentary rocks. On the continents, the lower crustal layer also consists of basalts, and the upper one is of sedimentary rocks, but between them there is another layer, which is formed of granite. In most of the planet, basalt and granite layers are hidden by sedimentary rocks, and only in mountains and fault zones do they come out.
