Similarities between the Byzantine empire and the empire of Charlemagne.

There were such similarities between them:

1) Emperors ruled in both countries. Also, states consisted of captured lands, which gave them the opportunity to call the country an empire;

2) The absence of a separate judicial authority, as the court was ruled by the central or local judicial bodies;

3) Soviets played an important role in government. In Francia it was the council of the nobility, and in Byzantium it was the senate;

4) The presence of a church hierarchy.
