Sodium hydroxide is formed by interaction.

There are many chemical reactions that will produce sodium hydroxide, but I will list a couple of options.

1) 2Na + 2H2O → 2NaOH + H2

Sodium react with water.

2) Na2O + H2O → 2NaOH

Sodium oxide react with water.

3) NaCl + H2O → NaOH + HCl

Sodium chloride react with water.

4) NaH + H2O → NaOH + H2

Sodium hydride react with water.

The coefficients in all equations are arranged, nothing needs to be added.
