Let one of the adjacent angles be x degrees, then the second of the adjacent angles is 3 * x degrees. We know that the sum of the degree measures of adjacent angles is 180 degrees. Let’s make the equation:
x + 3 * x = 180;
x * (1 + 3) = 180;
x * 4 = 180 (in order to find an unknown factor, you need to divide the product by a known factor);
x = 180: 4;
x = 45 degrees – the degree measure of one of the adjacent angles;
45 * 3 = 135 degrees – the degree measure of the second of the adjacent angles.
Answer: 45 and 135 degrees.
