Specify the method of cutting the figure into parts that can be used to make a rectangle

Specify the method of cutting the figure into parts that can be used to make a rectangle, if the figure is: a) a trapezoid b) a parallelogram.

a) A trapezoid is a quadrilateral whose two sides are parallel (small and large bases).

From the vertices of the corners with a small base of the trapezoid, draw 2 lines of height, after which we will make 2 cuts along these lines. We get 1 rectangle and 2 triangles. Let’s rotate one of the triangles 180 degrees and match it with the other. We will get another rectangle that is compatible with the one formed after cutting. The resulting shape will also be a rectangle.

b) From the corner of the upper side of the parallelogram, draw a line of height until it intersects with the base. From the opposite corner, draw a line diagonally upwards, parallel to the first. Let’s make two cuts. We also get 1 rectangle and 2 triangles. Next, we do the same as in a) and we get a rectangle as the final figure.
