Substances are given: H2, O2, Zn, HCl, CuO. Write equations for five reactions between substances.

We are presented with substances: H2 – hydrogen, O2 – oxygen, Zn – zinc, HCl – hydrochloric acid, CuO – copper oxide. Consider the chemical reactions that are possible between these substances.

Hydrogen reacts chemically with oxygen. A binary compound, hydrogen oxide, or more commonly called water, is formed.

2 H2 + O2 = 2 H2O
A chemical reaction takes place between substances such as zinc and oxygen. We get trivalent zinc oxide.

4 Zn + 3 O2 = 2 Zn2O3
Zinc and hydrochloric acid enter into chemical interaction. We get zinc chloride salt and hydrogen gas.

Zn + 2 HCl = ZnCl2 + H2
A chemical reaction takes place between substances such as copper oxide and hydrochloric acid. As a result of the reaction, substances are formed: copper chloride salt and water.

CuO + HCl = CuCl + H2O
Oxygen and copper oxide react to form trivalent copper oxide.

O2 + 4 CuO = 2 Cu2O3.
