Suggest a way to remove iron filings from sodium chloride.

There are several ways to clean sodium chloride from iron filings:

1) Physical – take a magnet of medium and higher strength (or an electromagnet) and walk through the mixture. The iron filings will be attracted to the magnet, and the salt will remain there.

2) Physical – dissolve a mixture of sodium chloride and iron filings in water, sodium chloride will go into solution, and the sawdust will fall to the bottom of the container. Then drain the solution through a filter, it will retain the sawdust. And the solution that has passed should be cooled; as it cools (recrystallized), salt crystals will begin to fall to the bottom.
