We can say that during the reign of King Hammurabi, Babylonian society flourished. Then the king issued a set of laws that governed all aspects of the country’s life. That is, now the rights of citizens and their property were protected. On the other hand, the king also issued a decree according to which every Babylonian who was ransomed was freed from slavery. Such progressive changes led to the flourishing of the early Babylonian kingdom and made Hammurabi one of the greatest kings of antiquity.
