Today the population of South America is very diverse. It includes representatives of different races: the indigenous population, represented by Indians, Europeans – the descendants of colonizers from Europe, Negroes – the descendants of slaves from Africa, as well as various and numerous mixed groups such as mulattoes, mestizo, Sambo. The mixing of races in the countries of South America is carried out at a fairly rapid pace, developing into completely new racial types. When the countries of South America gained independence, significant changes in the ethnic composition occurred in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina due to the large influx of immigrants from Germany, Portugal, Italy, and some other European countries.
