Tell us about the reasons and directions of the Great Greek colonization?

Great colonization is a process of systematic creation by the Greeks (mainly from such policies as Miletus, Megara, Corinth and Chalcis on the island of Euboea), in the VIII-VI centuries. BC e., agricultural and commercial settlement in uninhabited or sparsely populated areas of the coastal Mediterranean basin:

– the eastern Mediterranean;

– the eastern part of Sicily;

– southern Italy, densely populated by colonies, which received the definition of Greater Greece;

– the northern coastal part of the Mediterranean Sea;

– the Black Sea coast.

The reason for the settlements outside Greece was the search for new land for arable land, raw materials and markets for goods produced in Greece.
