Tell us how the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was formed.

The principality of Lithuania was formed in the middle of the 13th century, more precisely in 1230-1240. The reason for its formation was the desire of Mindaugas to unite the Lithuanian tribes into a single state. The original capital of the Lithuanian principality was the city of Novogrudok. Then it was Novgorod-Litovsky. At the very beginning, Lithuanian lands occupied small territories in the Baltic States. The first Grand Duke was Mindaugas.
