There are cells, for example, single nerve cells or neurons, that are capable of regeneration. Neurons are made up of a cell body (head), an axon (hand), and dendrites (processes) that work together to receive and deliver messages throughout our body. If a neuron splits into axons, but the cell body remains intact, the axon has the ability to close the wound, create a new growth site, and begin to repair another extension to replace the damaged part.
