The 400 N table stands on four legs. The area of each leg is 0.0004 m². How much pressure does the table generate?

The pressure of a rigid body (in particular, a table) is determined by the formula p = F / S, where F is the weight of the body, S is the area of the body that is in contact with the surface. To find the total area of all the legs (they are in contact with the floor), you need to multiply the area of a separate one by 4: S = 0.0004 * 4 = 0.0016 m². Now we can find the pressure of the table on the floor using the first formula: p = 400 / 0.0016 = 250,000 N / m².
