The alloy, the mass of which is equal to 320 kg, contains 20% tin, 144 kg of lead and the rest is impurities. Determine the content of impurities.

1. Find out what is the weight of tin in the alloy. To do this, based on the condition of the problem, we find 20% of 320 kg of alloy:
320 kg * 20% = 320 kg * 0.2 = 64 kg.
2. Find out what is the total weight of tin and lead in the alloy. To do this, add the weight of lead in the alloy to the weight of tin in the alloy:
64 kg + 144 kg = 208 kg.
3. Find out what is the weight of impurities in the alloy. To do this, subtract the weight of tin and lead from the total weight of the alloy:
320 kg – 208 kg = 112 kg.
Answer: there are 112 kg of impurities in the alloy.
