The aquarium, which has the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped ️ with a base of 0.4 * 0.2 m, is filled with water to a height of 0.15 m. Determine the volume of water in the aquarium. What is the mass of this water?

1. Find the volume of liquid in the aquarium.

V = a * b * h, where, in accordance with the conditions of the problem:

a * b = 0.4 * 0.2 = 0.08 m ^ 2;

h = 0.15 m.

V = 0.08 * 0.15 = 0.012 m ^ 3.

2. Find the mass of water in the aquarium using the density formula: p = m / V.

Hence m = V * p, where

V = 0.012 m ^ 3 – volume occupied by water;

p = 1000 kg / m ^ 3 is the density of water.

m = 0.012 * 1000 = 12 kg.
