A rectangle is a rectangle with equal opposite sides and right angles. Its area is calculated by the formula:
S = a * b. Provided that it is 500 cm², and the width is 10 cm, we find the length of such a figure:
b = S: a = 500: 10 = 50 cm.
The perimeter (the sum of all sides) is determined by the formula:
P = 2a + 2b = 2 * 10 + 2 * 50 = 20 + 100 = 120 cm.
