The sides of a triangle are 3: 4: 6. The difference between the largest and smallest sides is 18 cm. Find the length of the middle side.

1. Find the difference between the parts of the larger and smaller sides:
6 – 3 = 3 parts.
2. Since this difference in parts is 18 cm, we find the length of one part by dividing 18 cm into 3 parts:
18/3 = 6 cm.
2. Find what the middle side of the triangle is equal to by multiplying the length of one part by the number of parts corresponding to the middle side:
6 cm * 4 = 24 cm.
Answer: the length of the middle side is 24 cm.
