| The parallelogram area is found by the formula:
S = ah,
where a is the side of the parallelogram, h is the height lowered to the side a.
Parallelogram ABCD: AB = CD = 14 cm, BC = AD = 16 cm. ВH – height lowered to the AD side, ВK – height lowered to the CD side. S = 112 cm ^ 2.
1. Find the length of the height lowered to the AD side:
S = AD * BH;
16 * BH = 112;
BH = 112/16;
BH = 7 cm.
2. Find the length of the height lowered to the CD side:
S = CD * BK;
14 * ВK = 112;
ВK = 112/14;
ВK = 8 cm.
Answer: BH = 7 cm, BK = 8 cm.
