| 1) Let us find out how long this rectangle has, if it is known that its area is 120 cm², and the width is 7 cm less than the length. We draw up an equation where:
X is the length;
7X – width;
120 – area.
X + 7X = 120;
8X = 120;
X = 120/8
X = 15 cm.
2) Let’s find out what width this rectangle has, if it is known that it is 7 cm less than its length.
15 – 7 = 8 cm.
3) Find out what perimeter this rectangle has.
(15 + 8) * 2 = 46 cm.
Answer: the perimeter of this rectangle is 46 cm.
