The area of the square is 144 cm2. Find the area of a rectangle whose width is less than the side of the square by 2 cm, and the length is 2 times greater than the side of the square.
S (square) = a² ⇒ 144 = a² ⇒ a = 12 cm – side of the square.
12-2 = 10 cm – the width of the rectangle
12 * 2 = 24 cm – the length of the rectangle
S (rectangle) = 10 * 12 = 120 sq. cm
