Find: AB, BD.
Decision:
1.S = a ^ 2
a = √S
AB = √36 = 6cm
2. AD = AB = 6cm by the property of a square.
By the Pythagorean theorem, we find BD:
a ^ 2 + b ^ 2 = c ^ 2
BD ^ 2 = 6 ^ 2 + 6 ^ 2
BD ^ 2 = 72
BD = √ (36 * 2)
BD = 6√2
Answer: AB = 6cm, BD = 6√2
